Camping and Caravan in Agulhas

The rocky headland of Cape Agulhas marks the place where the great Indian and Atlantic oceans meet; it's also the perfect spot for visitors to the town to take photographs at the official southernmost tip of Africa. When you see the stone plaque that sits right on the beach, you’ll know you’ve reached the very tip of continent. The plaque forms part of a wooden boardwalk that is easy to stroll and offers incredible views over the crashing seas.

The geological and historical setting of L’Agulhas and Struisbaai makes it an ideal and memorable holiday destination. Surrounded by beaches and fynbos plains, the towns are especially suited for a camping or caravanning holiday with the whole family.

The area offers two different campsites for visitors to choose from. One is situated meters away from the iconic lighthouse in L’Agulhas and the other is an easy 10km drive to Struisbaai with its colourful fishing boats and beaches. The coastal stretch between these two quaint villages is a paradise for families who are after a fun filled holiday by the sea where tents are pitched just meters away from the beach.

Struisbaai offers a selection of over 200 neat and level grassed campsites that are situated right on the beach while the L’Agulhas camp has 40 sites and shared ablution and kitchen facilities. Both sites are in close proximity to all shops and amenities that are needed to create the perfect campsite.

Besides being the most affordable accommodation option available, there are many perks to camping in L’Agulhas or Struisbaai. Camping allows families and visitors on a budget to save money on accommodation and allows holidaymakers to experience more of the attractions and adventure activities in Cape Agulhas.

Some of the adventures that await visitors to Cape Agulhas include horse-riding, 4x4ing, birding and hiking, swimming in the sea and in tidal pools, cycling, whale-watching and fishing in the famous crystal blue shallows.
